Drew Bledsoenice arm but frequently offtarget

It's amazing to me that the play was so controversial because no matter how many times I see it, it still looks like a forward pass to me.I can clearly hear the announcing crew saying "don't look at the people", "The ball is right on the line". All of that is absolute nonsense to me because for my money, the ball was released just behind the 25 and caught just in front of the 25. However, the play is in the books as a lateral and history cannot be changed. The Tennessee Titans went on to make a Super Bowl appearance against the St. Louis Rams while the Bills went home to lick their wounds and regroup for the following season.

No one could have imagined that this franchise would not make another playoff appearance after this gameno one. The Bills, however still managed to maintain their defensive intensity even without Bruce Smith to lead the waythe Bills defense was ranked 3rd in the league while their offense was 9th. They still had a lot of talent on the team with Eric Moulds, Peerless Price, Sam Cowart, and Marcellus Wiley but they finished 4th in the AFC East. The main issue was the still present quarterback controversy between Rob Johnson and Doug Flutie. It began the season prior when Flutie was unceremoniously benched in favor of Rob Johnson despite leading the team to the playoffs.

Neither guy was willing to play second-fiddle to the other, but the Bills were heavily invested in Rob and Wade Phillips was content with Flutie's fuming in favor of Rob getting the startat least that was the company line.It made for a bitter division among the players and made any real team chemistry difficult. The Bills finished 8-8 and Flutie was cut after the season....along with Wade Phillips.. The Bills have employed six quarterbacks since the 1999 season. None of them have led the team to a playoff appearance and only one of them has managed a season above .500Drew Bledsoe went 9-7 in 2004. To say the Bills have been unlucky in the quarterback department is a lot like saying Eric Mangini will never be a worthy head coachit's obvious and painful to say but it is what it is Trent Edwards isn't the problem for the Bills. He is simply another symptom of their overall inability to find the perfect formula to get the franchise back on track.Just look at his predecessors:Alex Van Peltumm, bad.Drew Bledsoenice arm, but frequently, off-target.Kelly Holcombawful J.P.
